Division of CEMIB - Genetic Monitoring and Cryopreservation Program

The genetic monitoring section and the cryopreservation laboratory have 3 objectives: the genetic investigation of the CEMIB colonies; support services and research.

The genetic monitoring involving morphological markers, immunogenetic markers (serological tests; skin grafting), biochemical genetic markers and molecular markers (PCR for microsatelites and specific transgenesis); and exist efforts to insert the SNPs markers.

Actually, the molecular markers are the most using for daily analysis in our laboratory. Others techniques such as:  cryopreservation of embryos, ovaries and sperms; transgenesis and assisted reproduction technologies like in vitro fertilization and ovary transfer are applied to assure the establishment of strains with special necessities.
